Congratulations to ITD's Excellence in Transportation Award Winners!

August 20, 2012

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) annually presents Excellence in Transportation Awards to recognize exceptional achievements in the development, planning, and implementation of transportation projects throughout the state. This year’s awards were presented during the June ITD board meeting. The program included opening remarks from ITD Director Brian Ness and highlighted the collaboration between ITD staff, the ITD board, local agencies, and consultants to complete beneficial transportation projects.

Recipients were selected through a statewide competition in five categories. The award for Transportation Planning was presented to the State Street Transit and Traffic Operational Plan, which was submitted by Kittelson & Associates, Inc. in partnership with Ada County Highway District, the City of Boise, and Valley Regional Transit. The State Street Transit and Traffic Operational Plan is an integrated transportation and land use plan that identifies and prioritizes roadway, transit, and land use improvements for the State Street/SH 44 corridor in Ada County, Idaho. Additional involvement and project support came from our teaming partners RBCI, Leland Consulting Group, URS Corporation, and Newlands Company, several local agencies (Cities of Eagle and Garden City, COMPASS, and Idaho Transportation Department), and the State Street Program Coordinator (McFarland Management).

The other four award categories went to the following recipients:

  • Design: Small Project – I-84, New York Canal Modeling & Mitigation, submitted by Horrocks Engineers, Inc.

  • Design: Large Project – I-84, Ten Mile Interchange, submitted by H. W. Lochner, Inc.

  • Construction – Topaz Bridge, submitted by ITD District 5

  • Public Participation – Eagle Road Improvement Project, submitted by RBCI

Individual awards were presented to the following recipients:

  • ITD Career Achievement – David R. Amick, Manager of Transportation Investments

  • ITD Professional of the Year – Mary Harker, Chief Human Resource Officer

Congratulations to all of the 2012 award recipients!
