KAI's Sacramento Office Welcomes New Staff

The year may be winding down, but Kittelson & Associates, Inc.’s (KAI’s) Sacramento, California office is growing faster than ever. Since late August, four new faces have taken up residence at 428 J Street. “The addition of new staff is essential to facilitate and foster future growth here in the KAI Sacramento office,” says office manager Jim Damkowitch. “We look forward to bringing an expanded range of services to our clients throughout California.” Read on to find out more about our recent hires:

Sean Houck, PE; Principal Engineer

Sean brings more than 17 years of professional experience to KAI, particularly in the areas of roadway and roundabout design and operations. His design practice also includes rail and transit applications. Sean has significant project management experience developing and delivering transportation projects for state and local agencies throughout California.

Chirag Safi, TE; Engineer

Chirag specializes in traffic operations analysis, simulation modeling, and advance signal timings. Having previously worked for Dowling Associates, Inc., he is excited to rejoin the team under the KAI banner. His experience includes freeway corridor studies, interchange improvement studies, roadway and intersection feasibility studies, transportation impact studies, municipal-wide traffic impact fee studies, and traffic safety and calming studies.

Matthew Braughton, Transportation Analyst

Matt—a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley with a Master’s degree in city and regional planning—has worked on bus rapid transit and bicycle and pedestrian safety projects. He specializes in GIS analysis and mapping as part of transportation and land use planning. Looking forward, Matt is hoping to gain exposure to a wide range of planning projects in California.

Darryl DePencier, Planner

Darryl has been with KAI since 2008 and was based out of our Tucson, Arizona office before being assigned to the Sacramento office. His planning experience has focused on regional and transit planning, system performance measurement, and geospatial analysis. As a transportation planner and GIS expert, Darryl has worked directly with DOTs, MPOs, counties, and municipalities to develop a strong understanding of planning needs at each jurisdictional level.
