Tom Urbanik Joins the KAI Team

Kittelson & Associates, Inc. (KAI) is pleased to announce the addition of a new member to the team. Dr. Tom Urbanik is coming from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he is a professor. Beginning January 1st, 2010, he will become a full-time Senior Principal with KAI in Texas. He brings with him 40 years in the transportation industry, largely in the public sector as a practitioner, a researcher, and most recently as an educator. Tom has had a long-standing and fruitful relationship with KAI for more than 10 years, acting as a professor partner and advisor on numerous projects ranging from research papers to hands-on field work across the United States.
Tom's primary expertise is in management and operations of transportation systems using technology to achieve appropriate local policy goals. He is also an expert in the area of traffic control systems for arterials and freeways. Tom advocates for transit (bus and LRT) signal priority, truck priority, intelligent railroad preemption, and appropriate consideration of pedestrians & bicycles at traffic signals.
